Tulsi Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ganivan (Deendayal Research Institute) was established in 1992 for Banda District to achieve the long felt need for strengthening the transfer of appropriate technology to the farmers in the operational area. In May 1997 district Banda divided in to two part viz., Banda and Chitrakoot this newly created district (Chitrakoot) consisted of two Tehsil and five community development block with 529 populated villages. The Krishi Vigyan Kendra is situated 18 Km. away from district head quarter (Karvi).

District Chitrakoot falls under Bundelkhand Agro-climatic zone. The Bundelkhand Agro-climatic zone has been divided into four agro-ecological situations on the basis of soil type viz., sandy, clay, sandy loam and silty clay.

District Chitrakoot is characterized by its most backwardness, poverty, illiteracy, soil erosion and least productivity along with other socio-economic cultural like "ANNA PRATHA" and Geographical constraints. There is non significant area under horticultural crops and animal production is very low.

For achieving social, economical and agricultural sustainability, the KVK is actively engaged in the integrated management approach for crop husbandry, horticulture, animal husbandry and allied fields through vocational training, demonstration, kisan/mahila gosthi, kisan mela, field days for the farmers, farm women, rural youth and grass root level extension functionaries. KVK is also giving more emphasis on frequent interaction between scientist & farmers and institution & villages on participation of farmers, and a farmer to farmer interaction for the dissemination of technologies.
